WHAT: ArtBank Launch Event!

The core concept of Art Bank is the idea that commodification of art, artifacts, and other tangible collectibles is unavoidable in the current cultural and global economic climate. An alternate market of aesthetic value needs be established across a much broader spectrum of creative participants, in stark contradistinction to the rigged economic structures of the mainstream art world approach.
ART BANK was an attempt in collaboration with Aaron Moskowitz, Burning Books, and the other participating artists to create an egalitarian art market based on a ledger system much like crypto-currency. The ART Bank Inaugural at the Center for Contemporary Art was a large group exhibition that filled the Waxman -Muñoz Gallery, a former tank armory. Unfortunately, due to the usual banking scandals, ART BANK’s central management collapsed and the project was discontinued.
